Decoding the Online Gaming Rules, 2026

A detailed examination of India’s Online Gaming Rules, 2026, their regulatory architecture, key compliance requirements, and implications for the gaming industry.

Professional Experiences

Through the course of my student life, I have had the opportunity to work across a range of practice areas through internships at leading law firms and chambers, spanning both corporate advisory and litigation. My experience across these internships has played a significant role in shaping my engagement with the law. Working across both litigation and corporate settings, I have had the opportunity to explore a wide range of practice areas and I have fortunately or unfortunately, loved all of them.

Dwaraka Law Chambers

1. Worked across commercial drafting, civil and consumer litigation, and real estate matters.
2. Assisted on company advisory and regulatory issues.
3. Handled preliminary client interactions and briefed seniors on ongoing matters.

One of the defining moments during my time here was drafting written submissions and advancing final arguments before the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Bangalore which resulted in a favourable outcome for the client (who also happened to be my grandfather).

Trilegal – TMT

1. Worked on policy, governance, regulatory compliance and technology-related disputes.
2. Researched global takedown standards for social media intermediaries.
3. Analysed sector-specific data protection and compliance requirements.

This was one of my most enriching experiences, particularly as it allowed me to work closely within the TMT space, an area that continues to interest me deeply.

Khaitan & Co

1. Worked on corporate law, regulatory and transactional matters.
2. Assisted on foreign exchange regulations, structuring and compliance.
3. Engaged in transactional due diligence and governance-related work.

My time here was particularly enriching, and I was shortlisted for a pre-placement offer. I also undertook assignments relating to fintech whenever the opportunity arose.

AZB & Partners

1. Worked on corporate governance, compliance and transactional due diligence.
2. Engaged with regulatory advisory and evolving areas such as labour and employment in the gig economy.

A defining aspect of my tenure was analysing the Promotion and Regulation of Gaming Act, 2025, which required engaging with a developing regulatory landscape and assessing it from a policy standpoint.

Lawyers Transcontinental

1. Worked across corporate advisory, cross-border regulatory matters, and litigation.
2. Engaged with foreign investment frameworks, including FDI, ODI and LRS.
3. Assisted on international regulatory and cross-jurisdictional disputes.

A defining assignment during this period was preparing a comprehensive memorandum on the Global Capability Centre (GCC) policy introduced by the Government of Karnataka, analysing its implications for prospective entrants.

King Stubb & Kasiva

1. Assisted on IP litigation and dispute-related work.
2. Drafted consumer complaints, legal notices and objections.
3. Observed and assisted in proceedings before NCLT, High Courts and consumer forums.

This experience provided a foundational understanding of litigation practice, alongside exposure to fintech regulatory issues, including research on payment aggregators and gateways.

VAS Chambers

1. Worked on commercial advisory, regulatory compliance, and litigation matters.
2. Drafted and reviewed agreements across sectors, including entertainment and sports.
3. Conducted trademark searches and supported litigation strategy through research.

A particularly significant mandate involved assisting on a cross-border trade and regulatory compliance matter, where I worked on a memorandum analysing international trade frameworks alongside domestic regulatory regimes, including food safety compliance.

BIMAAC

1. Secured this opportunity by winning the National Mediation and Arbitration Competition.
2. Researched and drafted internal notes across ADR precedents and legislation.

A standout assignment involved authoring a research paper on plea bargaining across jurisdictions, including the United States and Australia.

Areas of Exposure

1. Litigation and dispute resolution
2. Company laws
3. FEMA and investment laws
4. Technology, media and telecommunications laws
5. Intellectual property laws
6. Intellectual property laws
7. Consumer protection and regulatory compliance
9. Real estate laws and commercial transactions
10. Contract drafting

These experiences reflect an ongoing effort to engage with laws across domains while gradually building depth. This remains a continuous learning process, and an attempt to be part of the larger legal ecosystem while growing within it.
